Issue: a grass roots petition requesting the replacement of Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar.
Situation Report Summary:
The public backlash against Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar's "exodus proposal," to relocate wild horses from western ranges to the midwest, has continued to grow. While a few folks at the Dept. of Interior have insisted that America got it all wrong (in interpreting Salazar's plan,) neither the DOI or the BLM have engaged in any visible effort to correct these so-called misconceptions.
The reality is that Ken Salazar is a rancher. The public lands ranchers (dubbed "welfare ranchers" by critics) are considered the primary force behind the accelerated eradication of wild free-roaming horses and burros from our public lands. Why the Obama Administration picked someone having such a conflict of interests to be in charge of an issue so sensitive is a puzzling question. However "Cattleman Ken" is now in charge of our wild horses, he's shown his true colors, and it's time for him to go.
There are many petitions making the rounds these days, however one petition in particular focuses on Salazar, the person calling the shots in this debacle. We suggest you visit this petition site. If you agree with the petition, you are encouraged to sign it and pass this information along.
