Sweeney / Spratt Horse Slaughter Amendment Passes

Dear Friends of Horses,

Yesterday was a victory that our horses have needed for a very long time. The House of Representatives passed the Sweeney (R- NY) Spratt (D-SC) amendment that stopped funding for USDA to do inspections of the three foreign owned slaughter plants in our country for one year. If passed in the Senate, this will essentially end the slaughter of horses in our country for one year. It will also give us a window of opportunity to see the affects of such legislation so that we can prove that our people are a compassionate people for our companion animals such as the horse and that they will no longer suffer.

The horses do not deserve to walk the plank of the slaughter death camps - and to be eaten in foreign countries. Our civilization has thrived because of the close connection of the horse and human. Almost all cultures of the world have been connected to equids.

We are a compassionate society and we thank you so very much for your support.
