The National Capitol Hill Day for Horses - March 7th, 2005

The American Horse Defense Fund (AHDF),
the nation’s premier, active horse protection, education and advocacy nonprofit, announces the National Annual Capitol Hill Day For Horses, March 7, 2005. Anyone who can get to D.C. is welcome to take part.

The AHDF annual meeting will take place Sunday March 6th in Washington D.C. At the conclusion of the annual meeting, a briefing will be offered for all those going to Capitol Hill the following day to prepare and organize the effort for optimal impact. The focus of the Hill day will be on urging passage of the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act and legislation to reinstate the wild horse and burro protections that the Burns amendment destroyed.

In an effort to educate the horse owning public and make clear many alternatives to slaughter ad euthansia exist, the AHDF published a sought after book recently: Alternatives To Auction & Slaughter: A Guide For Equine Owners (A Better Way). The book is available on CD for $5 and bound for $15 and is 330 pages with state-by-state lists of a wide variety of researched resources.

Horse lovers and concerned American’s are expected from all across the US. "We believe there will be a groundswell of support for protecting our nation’s precious, national heritage species (as so defined by Congress)", said AHDF president Trina Bellak, Esq.

The AHDF urges all Americans to write their two US senators and one US representative and Interior Secretary Gale Norton, as quickly as possible and to let others know about this imminent threat.
